Daft Punk is Written on My Shirt (On My Shirt)

posted by Artie on 2007-08-12 11:52 AM

Okay, so this is just an odd anecdote.

Thursday night I went and saw Daft Punk play Coney Island, and for filming the event with my DVCam I got a free Daft Punk t-shirt (in addition to the promise of the concert DVD when it's done. Sweet).

Then I went home to Idaho. I was wearing the shirt around downtown Boise and every third person would say something about my shirt. Here are some of the best:

Girl at coffee shop: "'Course you can, just 'cuz we like your shirt"

Guy passing me on the street: "Best band in the world right there."

One of the three bums who were sitting together and asked me for change: "Nice shirt, kid."

Guy at drink counter at movie theatre: "Yo, have you heard Ed Banger Vol. 2?"

Guy taking my ticket at movie theatre: "Whoa, okay, I know the movie already started so sorry to hold you up but.. do you listen to Justice?"

"Aaron": {Skinny indie boy walks up to me, arm outstretched, wanting to shake my hand}
"Yo man, I love Daft Punk. Did you see them at Red Rocks?
"Naw, Coney Island."
"What's Coney Island?"
"This amusement park in Brooklyn."
(later)"So what do you do?" (he's holding a camera)
"Nothin', man. I take pictures. I'm gonna write an article."

So that was my day.

How to Outrun the Atomic Bomb

posted by Artie on 2007-07-25 5:10 PM

Well as long as we're talking scripts.

I also have a sci-fi yarn which I am tentatively going to begin spinning tomorrow afternoon. Unlike Jesse's analog adherence, I'll be shooting mine in full 24p Panasonic digital sensurround. Ok so maybe not the last adjective, but you get what I mean.

You can get the script here: (WHOA)

I was supposed to begin shooting this evening, but seeing as I spent the last 24 hours in an emergency room bed being pumped full of antibiotics, I'm going to take a bit of a rest first.

Also, I started a new blog:

Yeah there are only like two things on there right now. Expect more.

The completion of The Great Machine

posted by jharding on 2007-07-22 12:17 AM

Just two days ago I finished the first draft of a science fiction script. It is 17 pages long, but I formatted the script incorrectly, so I just assume it will be around 20ish minutes once I actually produce it.

This movie will hopefully be shot of my RCA CC007 model video camera what I bought at second mile. It is missing the unit which serves as both power and video adapter, and the cheapest one I could find on teh heh internetzzz was about $240 (too much). So...I am making it myself. I just need a new AC adapter of the proper power and to figure out exactly how to wire the ancient composite video-out format into normal video.

As for the special effects needed for this film, I plan to do them all as digital pixilations and also using green-screen methods.

Needless to say, I am very excited.

Anyhoo, it you want to, my script is up on the web (linked) and if anyone feels like reading it and giving me compliments or other compliments, do't.

Lovingly, The Reverend
